The Life Cycle...

Tonight, I joined all these cute kiddos caroling at two of the nursing homes in town. I wasn't prepared.at.all.  Between singing silent night with my 2 babies and seeing little ole' people I was brought to tears!!! I thought as I stood there...I might have to leave the room and get my composure. I am falling to pieces..get it together Shea!  At one point, a lady in her 90's wanted to play the piano while we sang...she started playing and it didn't sound like anything I recognized..we waited patiently and a few minutes later..the tune of silent night came..she remembered most of it..and more tears filled my eyes.
Oh my..the life cycle. I watched as some were fed by spoon as we sang, some I don't think even knew we were there, some that tapped along & there was one little ole' lady who said "sing another!"
It was touching being there & I hope that we were able to give each of them a little Christmas cheer!

"Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth, make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise."
Psalm 98:4

Having worked in several nursing homes in the past, I can tell you, I'm sure they were so glad you came. Thank ya'll for going and making a difference and bringing JOY to so many that are lonely and often times feel forgotten. We are HIS hands and feet. I love ya'll and I'm proud to be your Me-Maw/Mama B

It always gets me, too. Over the last few years when I was teaching dance I'd pick our recital songs with the nursing home in mind bc we'd go perform for them during their talent show. They really got a kick out of Singin' in the Rain, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, etc. My students and I would stay to watch their acts in the talent show, and I'd leave in tears every time. It's amazing how just a few minutes out of your day can totally make theirs. Sweet, sweet. I know y'all enjoyed it.

So sweet, Shea, you little sap. ;) I would love to do that with mine. Oh and regarding the last post, I give you props for waking up that late and even attempting (much less accomplishing-HOW in the world???) being ready on time. I think I would have thrown in the towel and checked them in late. :) Love you sweet friend!
