While, we were off on our girl's trip, Bubba & Davis stayed at Aunt Heather's house and relaxed by doing yard work! :) Bubba got Heather's yard back to par--hurry home Uncle Dave--you know Bubbs loves you when he will cut your grass & weed eat!!! (He always came up with good excuses growing up to get out doing this!) I must say that he is pretty terrific!

Happy Birthday, Bubbs!!
Girls Just Want To Have FUN!!
Thursday, Mackenzie, Aunt Heather, & I traveled down to Mobile for some work and then some play! :) I had to do some flower arrangements for a wedding rehearsal dinner & then we mosied around Mobile! We had a GREAT time! On Thursday night, upon getting there, we stopped and asked someone where a nice place would be to have dinner--we found a fabulous restaurant, ate, and then headed back for bed!! Today, we found the best little shopping center, it was a lot like the Summit, but way more fun for Mackenzie....the shopping center had a little park area in the center with tables and the best thing ever--a fountain that shot up water everywhere and was a hot spot for local kids!! We went out to the car and slipped Mackenzie into her swim suit, so she could join in on all the fun...she ran up to me and said "Mommy, this is the best day ever!" I just sat on a bench and wished that I was a kid and could run around through the water..Of course, Mackenzie met a friend there (not sure if Mackenzie ever meets a stranger--we have even invited this little girl to come and visit us in Opelika sometime--Well, Mackenzie did, but she really did not even know the little girl's name!) Does anyone have any connections with Mayor Fuller--we need one of these hotspots in Opelika for the kids!! I just envisioned going to do this during the summer--How much fun???? Prior to all the fountain fun..we ate lunch at another great restaurant--Mackenzie got to fix her "bessert"--Icecream, chocolate syrup, and sprinkles!! Yummy!! :) Aunt Heather, I am glad that you were able to join us--it would not have been the same without you!!
What are we getting into??

Raising a Southern Belle...
So, my newest challenge is teaching Mackenzie some good southern manners--Of course, I have been working on this since she was able to talk--and it is a on-going process...She does do very well, but has to be reminded at times!! I am reading this new book and the first chapter is on leading the way to good manners:
1. Use "please", "thank you", & "excuse me"--ALWAYS!
2. Wait your turn. (Well, this one is going to be a tough one, b/c Mackenzie loves to be the first one to do everything..hmm..we'll see)
3. Be generous with compliments and stingy with criticism.
4. Listen to your child when she speaks to you, even if you've heard it before. (Well, this one is a lesson for me, b/c if any of you have traveled with Mackenzie, you know there is NEVER a quiet moment--I have a little chatty cathy on my hands! )
5. Do not discipline your child in front of others.
6. Do not correct any other child on her manners, other than your own.
7. Be clear about what you expect.
8. Be consistent.
9. Do not give in to tempure tantrums. ( I was a sucker for that at age 2--we were in Tuesday Mornings & MGF wanted a groovy girl doll from there (her name is now Beffely--no not Bethany, Beffely) & pitched a fit for her--I was so exhausted and embarrassed, I just said okay!
10. Do not lose your temper. (WHAT?!?!)
11. Admit when you are wrong, owe and apology when you owe one.
12. Let your child know when a discussion has become a decision.
13. Words can hurt.
14. Respect your child's privacy-knock first
15. Do not impose your ideology.
16. Agree to disagree.
17. Give credit where credit is due.
18. Hold the door
19. Lend a hand.
20. Be a good sport.
21. Be a gracious loser & a generous winner.
22. Give more than you are asked.
23. Don't take more than you need.
24. Leave a place cleaner than you found it. ( I remember as a child having to follow this rule
& it would make me so mad at my mom when I would have to clean up a mess that was there when we arrived...but it does say it in the rule book, so I guess mom was right!!)
25. Don't respond to rudeness with rudeness.
26. Winning is not the only thing and nice girls do finish first.
So, let the southern fun begin!! And, if you know Mackenzie it shall be fun! :)

Peek-a-boo....

Out of all the toys that Davis has--he would rather climb in and out of an antique armoire in our bedroom---Just about every time he comes into our room--out goes the baseballs (Bubba put a couple of baseballs in the bottom for Davis to play with when he is in our room) & in goes Davis--He loves to play peek-a-boo...and we just play along--he closes the door & I say--Where's Davis??? and he opens the door---Why waste money on toys--when all you need is a armoire???

Relaxing Day on the Lake
What a great and fun day at the lake--It was so nice to get out of the house today, since yesterday we stayed at home all day due to the weather!! Mackenzie, Bailey, & Blair enjoyed going exploring on the bank & even got in the water!! (When you are a kid, you have no concept of COLD WATER!) Davis would have loved to join them--he got real antsy when he saw them splashing through the water. Both Mackenzie and Davis LOVE the water, which makes my life wonderful in the summer time, because I love to be near a pool or on the lake!!! This reminds me of why I love SUMMERTIME!!

It was a SUNNY day for some...
Time with friends
Tuesday, I took Haley back to Birmingham to the airport and had plans to stop and visit with my long lost friend, Paula!! Well, on the way to Paula's, Haley calls and tells me that they have cancelled her flight, so I turn around and get her and we proceed to Paula's again!! :) It was great to visit with Paula and her precious little Owen. Seems like life gets in the way & we are all so busy and don't get to do this as often as we would like, so I am glad that I was able to visit for a while!! Upon arrival, Davis was EXHAUSTED!!! He loves to have a 10:00 nap and a 1:00 nap & at this point, he just wanted a NAP!!! I layed him in Owen's crib and he napped until it was time to leave-much needed!! We headed downstairs to Owen's playroom and Mackenzie and Owen played a while...Mackenzie got a taste of what the future holds with a little brother...she finally told Paula she was going in the hallway to color on this magic doodle. :) Paula, thanks for having us to your beautiful new home & letting us spend time with the two of you!! We had a GREAT time catching up!!

Davis calling Bubba
Well, I thought you would enjoy hearing Davis calling his daddy--which he calls him "Bubba"!!
He does this everytime Bubba leaves the room...it is just too funny!! This time, Davis is in the laundry room & Bubba is outside, the clip would have been longer but my memory card was full (as usual)!!!

Easter Egg Hunt

Today, I took the kids to our church Easter Egg Hunt!! Although, we had a tough morning, the day turned out to be BEAUTIFUL!! We started off the morning looking for Mackenzie's navy church shoes--she was much more interested in watching the Disney channel rather than finding her shoes for church--I had NO leverage until after we returned home from church and told her that we were going to the egg hunt ONLY if she found her shoes--they were located in a spot that we would NEVER keep them-her dresser drawer! WHO KNOWS?!?! Yesterday, she did a quick clean-up so she could go and play with Taylor and I guess that is where she stashed them--needless to say, we had a GREAT time at the hunt! Davis discovered ICE CREAM- Brusters was there serving & I was challenged making sure Davis did not go and thieve others ice cream bowls!! Mackenzie was so excited to see the Moreman Twins, Bailey and Blair! They had such a GREAT time together--they are the best of friends & love each other so much!! When the Moon walk crowd left Davis got to get in and JUMP--he loved it, so I am going to have to get Bubba to get Mackenzie's out of the attic for him, because I think he is ready!!! He does get on Mackenzie's trampoline, but I think that he could jump around better in the jumping castle!! We have afternoon plans this week now!! YEH!! More pictures will come I'm sure! :) It is so hard to believe that Easter is approaching--Mackenzie had a little sweet talking with the Easter Bunny--and of course, when Davis saw him coming--he just started crying, so I didn't even attempt a picture with him!! HAPPY EASTER to all!

Skiing in Boone, NC

Well, we just returned from a GREAT weekend in Boone, NC. It was lots of fun and great to get away with just grown-ups!! :) Although, I was SO ready to come home and see Kenzie and Davis--we missed them so much. We left on Wednesday night and traveled to Greenville, SC and spent the night and woke up Thursday morning and went the rest of the way. We stayed at a cabin in the mountains called Atta boy Jakes-it was very nice and roomy. On Thursday night, we went to ski--might I say, I fit in pretty good with the rest of our group--skiing was challenging for several of us, but we made the best of what we could do! On Friday, we returned to the slopes and I was left stranded alone on the bunny slope-everyone had advanced, but me! :( It was a rough day!! HA! We all woke up Saturday morning, sore in places we never thought could be sore, so we all just hung out and were going to venture the slopes later that evening--I must say in comparison to all the other days--I IMPROVED!! I could make it down the bunny slope with no problems! I did try to be like the rest of the group & after taking out Ryan on the lift and then falling half way down the slope- I found myself returning to the bunny slope for the evening! It was so much fun watching our group use their brakes--which consisted of falling to STOP! The boys got very creative in their landings! A BIG THANK YOU to Aunt Heather, Aunt Ano, and Uncle Jrod for their love and care of Kenzie and Davis~we could not have done it without yall!!
